When i was teaching theatre arts in elementary schools, i once - TopicsExpress

When i was teaching theatre arts in elementary schools, i once worked with kids with Down Syndrome in one of my classes. As part of my curriculum, we worked on expressing emotions on stage, so an audience could tell what a character was feeling. The elementary school kids were able to express anger, sadness, greed, pride, happiness, jealousy, thru facial expressions, body shape, gestures, tone of voice, but my students with Down Syndrome simply were not able to express emotions outwardly in ways that can be seen. Obviously, judges have some unspoken list of behavioral cues they look for in victims of violent crimes - but expecting someone with Down Syndrome to behave the same way as someone who doesnt, is unjust. Plus, it seems like this judge is working under the Bro Code, male judges around the country (many of them Bush appointees - as similar as Dems & Reps may act otherwise, they are very different when it comes to judges) are trying to find any technicality to let off rapists.
