When in Mumbai for a day last week, was on a drive through the city, the driver stopped before the famed mansion of Ambani. The colossal structure, he said, is to house 4 residents serviced by 700 staff. Though amused I was reminded of an incident several years ago when I went to a reliance store for some groceries. The clerk at the billing didnt have change to return 50 paise due to me. I said no problem just make a note on my receipt about the due. I kept that receipt with me for several years and often looked at it as it gave a rare satisfaction to know that Ambani was a debtor to me. It may be 50 paise or 50 crore rupees, a debtor is always a debtor. And Ambani is indebted to me and God knows how many more 50 paises for that colossal mansion he calls his own.
