When in need of a model, artists often turn to their friends and families. Here the etcher and painter Bradbury focuses on his lovely daughter, Pamela. The rather self-conscious looking girl seems to be struggling to maintain her pose. Before he took up painting, Bradbury was a merchant marine cadet; hence his work frequently features the sea and ships - so this affectionate piece combines two subjects close to his heart. He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the RWA and extensively elsewhere and his work is held by the Russell-Cotes and Imperial War Museum. He lived at Sandbanks, Poole, Dorset.
