When it comes to caring for media cards, there are a few things you need to know to make sure your images are well protected and the card remains in working order. For example, make sure to reformat your card on a regular basis. Reformatting keeps the file structure clean and in good working order, which means you’ll get fewer error messages down the road. The longer a card goes without being formatted, the greater possibility there is for corruption. When handling your media card, always hold it by the edges and do not touch or bend the end pins on the card. Always turn your camera off before removing the card from the camera, and once the card is in the computer, make sure the transfer is complete before removing it from the slot. Its possible to corrupt or damage your images by taking the card out when the computer is still accessing it. When carrying cards in your camera bag or purse, make sure they are properly protected with a case, to ensure those pins are left undamaged and ready for the next use.
