When it comes to giveaways, sometimes I just want to bang my head - TopicsExpress

When it comes to giveaways, sometimes I just want to bang my head against a freakin wall. WHY IS THERE NO COMMON SENSE CODE OF CONDUCT?!?!? 1. When you are claiming a prize... PLEASE say what you won. I personally put the winners name and instructions on where to email-- and the fact that the winners need to say WHAT and HOW they won-- at the top of each original post of every FB giveaway. If you struggle to remember details, My suggestion is to SCREENSHOT what you won so that you can include that in the email. 2. Give people some time to mail things out. Im blunt and I tell everyone- it can take 3-4 weeks. Youre winning free stuff-- show some gratitude instead of messaging 4,378 times and asking where your prize is or if the person doing the giveaway got your messages. 3. Have a basic concept of the fact that most authors are on a giveaway loop. There are dozens of prize winners each month. Please. Please. Please. For the love of sanity-- PAY ATTENTION when you enter contests. My new rule is that you have between 4-7 days (varies by giveaway) to claim the prize. Nothing is worse than getting something from someone that says I won something in 1845, can you still send it to me? Quick answer? No. I cant. People think that doing these giveaways is easy. Its the furthest thing from easy. Its time consuming, tedious and a real pain to keep these documents up to date. And then, once youve got all that, we get to spend 9 years in the post office mailing it all out. I spend an INSANE amount of money on prizes and mailings. Please. Please. BE PATIENT!!! I do my giveaways to give back to my readers, but sometimes its more hassle than its worth. ONLY bout 40% of the winners ever bother to say thank you. End. Rant.
