When it comes to new currencies, I continue to hope that we will evolve a new system that will beneficially render the old system obsolete. Were not there yet; but I continue to watch these new experiments with fascination, in the hope that as they continue to evolve the foundational problems will be solved, access by non-tech savvy individuals will increase, real money supply will be acknowledged as an integral part of the economy, distribution will become more democratic in nature. My intent is to support the issuance of a currency that capitalizes (backs) the real value of our nation—its infrastructure; healthy natural resources; creative capacity and potential; healthy, robust and diverse ecosystems; health and well-being of its citizenry; peacefulness of its relationships with other nations; social and material productivity; etc. This new currency could then be actively and equally distributed to all members of society in the form of a dividend, to thank everyone alive for being part of this magnificent nation. That would enable us ALL to both care for our personal needs without stress, and to nurture the growth of that net national value in any or all arenas where we feel concerned that we need to do better. We would then have adequate capital, widely distributed, to invest in pollution control, renewable energy research, making longer-lasting products of greater beauty, reducing waste, doing more using fewer resources, improving health and education across the board, repairing and improving the national infrastructure, etc. With everyone free to vote with their distributed capital on what they feel needs addressing (through crowd-funded investments) the institutions and formerly wealthy and powerful would no longer be able to dictate the nations choices by virtue of excess wealth. Nor could they continue to suppress the will of the public by denying them capital with which to have a voice in public affairs. And everyone would be on the same page, at last. If the National Wealth Index rises each year, we get a new dividend each year, EVERY ONE OF US! Imagine...wed want to see ALL kids succeed, because if they dont, our NWI drops and our dividend goes down. Wed want a clean environment and to protect endangered species, because that would raise the value of our NWI. Wed not want to squander resources that are non-renewables, because that would deplete our NWI and cause our annual dividend to decline. Think about it...its an astonishing system, really.
