When it comes to our flower garden the credit goes to Rita. She does an excellent job as the households chief gardener. Me, I handle the vegetable portion. As the below pictures will demonstrate its hosta blooming time. Hosta plants cover about 35 plus species, some will argue more, some less. Theyre alternatively known as plantain lilies. Their Japanese name is giboshi. Basically hosta is cultivated as a shade-tolerant foliage plant. They are easy to maintain and to reproduce. You can accomplish the latter by up-rooting the plant with a shovel and slicing down through the root. After doing so replant the newly created plant. I have taken some very large ones and produced as many as 5 to 6 new plants. I even had a wild hosta pop-up in my vegetable garden, in which I only grow tomatoes, mint, & oregano. There is a picture of the veggie garden thatll clearly show I am behind on my weeding, but the tomatoes look very promising!
