When monk pursuing religious studies at the monastery reaches class 15th and 16th of monastic curriculum, they can enroll themselves for further studies to pursue Geshe Lharampa examination. This is the highest examination conducted by Gelug Board once a year which is held by rotation either at one of three great seats of learning i.e., Gaden, Drepung and Sera. Monks from these three monastic colleges enrolled in this course which is of six years. After the completion of the sixth year, monk will be honored with Geshe Lharampa title which is equivalent to doctorate of Philosophy in Western University. 121 monks from Drepung Gomang Monastery, overall total 375 monks from Gaden, Sera and Drepung Monasitc colleges are taking part in this great examination from 30th August 2014.
