When my brother and I used to watch movies about medieval warfare, there were always lengthy scenes of trying to capture the castle, where like half the attackers would get killed by archers, or oil and rocks being dumped on their heads. And it was always so dramatic, like, ‘if this castle falls, the whole of France will fall.’ My brother would ASK, “Can’t they just go around the castle? Like, shouldn’t they attack everything BUT the castle? All the other homes seemed to be made of straw. Why attack the only one made of stone? Wouldn’t France still fall if the only people left were in the castle?”
