When my children were little my dad would call every year on July 30th and re-re-reconfirm that their vaccinations were up to date. On this day 80-years ago my father recalls the moment, that as an eight-year-old child, he felt the effects of being stricken with polio. The other evening over supper Dad reminded me (as if I needed reminding :-) ) to celebrate today and celebrate I will. I celebrate the strength of my father and his parents as they showed the doctors how their faith and determination could combine to defy all odds. I celebrate my healthy children and express gratitude for whatever level of that strength they have inherited. To my father I say that although the ravages of that horrible disease may have assaulted your body your innate power has never been diminished. Thank you for the daily inspiration and _________.
