When my family first moved to Elizabeth, I was 5. I went to St. Vladimirs School and later Bender Memorial Academy. I lived in apartment buildings on Williamson St and Rahway Avenue before my parents bought a house on Monmouth Rd in Elmora. There were hundreds of kids in my neighborhood - we ruled the neighborhood, played stick ball on the street as a neighborhood. We ranged in age from 4 years old through high school. Wed run through everyones backyards, spy on each other, and fight each other - girls too! Everyones mother was home - except mine because she was a nurse and worked.
