When ones heart becomes like stone, immoveable, a mind that has diverted from the Path of Allah, blinded to reason and rational and a spirit immersed in darkness...know that you have opened the gates for the shaytaan and he will run through your body like the flow of blood. For those who acknowledge their defeat and remain in idle, have indeed kept the evil devil as their closest companion. Are you not aware of those who would be friends with people whom Allah has condemned? It is they who are the greatest liars. Satan has gained mastery over them and caused them to remain oblivious of the remembrance of Allah. [Qur’an 58: 19] You hold your family, friends colleagues as enemies to yourself but you forget Iblis is a sworn enemy to Allah and mankind. After his expulsion from Paradise, Iblis says to Allah azza wajjal: Now that You have thwarted me, I shall most certainly lie in ambush for them all along Your straight way, and shall most certainly fall upon them openly as well as in a manner beyond their ken, and from the right and the left? [Qur’an 7:16-17] The biggest disease of the heart, mind and soul is the disease of doubt. Doubt which diverts mankind from the light, doubt which prevents mankind from returning home-Jannah. He makes them feel uncertain about everything that they do. The most common scenario is when one has committed a sin, they feel guilt and want to prevent this from happening again, but shaytaan takes advantage of this guilt by making them commit even greater sins I cant pray salah because I feel ashamed to stand before him and so the person rejects salah. In the context of such situations the Prophet SAW said: Verily, Satan tries to stop the sons of Adam in many ways. He tries to stop them by attacking Islam itself, saying: Why are you embracing Islam and leaving your religion and the religion of your forefathers. The sons of Adam ignore the Satan and embrace Islam. Then Satan tries to stop them by opposing migration for the sake of Allah, saying: What are you doing now is migration, wherein you abandon your home and all that bore you. The sons of Adam just ignore the Satan and then migrate. Then the Satan tries to stop them by attacking jihad, saying: What you are doing now is waging jihad, whereby you will fight and then get killed, and your wives will marry other men and your belongings will be divided. But the sons of Adam ignore him and wage jihad. Then the Prophet (s) said: Whoever does this and dies has earned the right to Paradise. [Nasa’i] Dont let shaytaan take you down with him. Say bismillah before everything you do, good or bad, make reflection and contemplation a daily habit was this good for my deen? would Allah be pleased with this action. Renew your intentions for everything that you do. Read your adkhar. Trials and tests are not solely to test how strong you are rather to test how much you believe and have faith in Allah. Do not despair in his mercy, tawwakal in Allah is perhaps the greatest pre resiquite for the acceptance of dua. No matter how tough it gets, dont ever disobey Allah to get what you want. Dont even for a blinking moment consider the shaitaan as an option- refer to the story of Baseesah. Hasbiyallahu wa nimal wakeel - Sufficient for us is Allah and he is the disposer of our affairs.
