When people ask me, Are you reformed? or Are you a calvinist? This is what I hear them asking me. 1. Do you believe that the Scriptures ALONE is the infallible, inerrant, authoritative, sufficient word of God? 2. Do you believe that God is Sovereign over everything including Salvation? 3. Do you believe that men are saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone to the glory of God alone? 4. Do you believe that the Doctrines of Grace are consistent with Gods revealed word? I never think they are asking me: Do you believe in Calvin instead of Christ? So then, if their intention is to know if that last question is the state of my mind, then they are gravely mistaken. For to believe in Calvin instead of Christ is to be a depraved, idolatrous rebel NOT a Calvinist.
