When people or Christians ask me about immigrants and say this country needs to be full of English speakers or immigrants can go away as they turn their nose up to anyone whos different, I pull these scriptures up. Do not mistreat an alien or oppress him, for you were aliens in Egypt.” Exodus 22:21 “Do not oppress an alien; you yourselves know how it feels to be aliens, because you were aliens in Egypt.” Exodus 23:9 When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him. The alien living with you must be treated as one of your native-born. Love him as yourself, for you were aliens in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.” Leviticus 19:33-34 Also, on the English speaking subject, our founding fathers knew that this country was going to be a safe haven for any immigrants or people who were mistreated or persecuted by their own government and that America would be a shelter for them. And that over time minorities may become majorities and the popular language would change. During that time Dutch and German were also common along with English, but English was the popular language. Thats what English was never designated as the official language of the US. They wanted their people to experience true freedom. Some of the most polite people Ive met at work have actually been immigrants or foreigners. On the other hand most of the behavior that I get from so-called true Americans has been nothing but yelling at me for not being able to process a 25 cent coupon because they couldnt read the simple English that was on it. They have taken this place for granted. All Ive heard was how cold and snowy its been from everyone but one person. This woman from Saudi Arabia was in my line and I asked her if she was tired of the weather. She replied with how she had never seen snow until this winter storm came and loves it. She said yes it is a little chilly but thank goodness she had a warm home to watch the snow fall from. All she could say is how beautiful this country was. If you ask me, thats really appreciating what we have here.
