When people start listing their favorite Tom Hanks movies, there is one that never gets the love it deserves: The Burbs. I frickin adore this movie. Its the perfect blend of spooky and funny. Probably because its directed by the great Joe Dante. This man gave us both Gremlins movies, The Howling, etc. Its insanely quotable ( PIZZA DUDE!), it gives shout outs to The Exorcist and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, and has Corey Feldman in it. What more do you need? Its legitimately creepy and hilarious. If I ever had the pleasure of meeting Tom Hanks, first thing Id do is get him to sign my copy. And hed look at me like, Really? The Burbs? and Id reply, Yes indeed.............why, have you been in other stuff?
