When pulling apart a section of the boat near the companionway a piece of the mahogany trim came away. It wasnt anything special on the outside, flat with a bit of a moulded edge and it fell at my feet. when I bent to throw it out to the scrap pile I turned it over and look what showed up- a beautiful piece of bass relief carving! There is nothing like this in any other part of the boat and in fact the boat is lacking in any sort of ornamentation which makes this piece so extraordinary. There is more of this sort of wood on the boat and Im wondering if there is more carving hidden behind!
