When somebody mentions The Blues theres only one name I think of. 89 year old & still touring B. B. KING one the greatest guitar players of all time.Thats not just my opinion. Rolling Stone has had him ranked as high as #3 on their Greatest Guitarist of All-Time. I admit even though I knew the name it wasnt until December of 1969 that I heard my first song from the king of blues as he was not known as a pop or Top 40 artist so he didnt get any airplay. The song of course was his #15 pop hit The Thrill Is Gone In 1972 he did another song I bought called Aint Nobody Home but my absolute favorite is from December 1973 I Like To Live The Love Recorded at Sigma Sound Studios in Philly this song is the most pop thing he ever recorded & was co-written, arranged & produced by Dave Crawford. Crawford also wrote the classic Candi Staton song Young Hearts Run Free The other co-writer was none other than one half of one of the greatest writing teams in history Cynthia Weil who wrote dozens of hits with her husband Barry Mann. I Like To Live The Love would only make it to #28 nationally but at legendary CKLW is peaked at #5.
