When someone crosses the border illegally here in Texas, they give them free insurance, a WIC card, a Lone Star card and free housing. Well its getting out of control now. They have always crossed over illegally but now its just blatant driving up in buses or just walking over at the Border. I think with all the people who want to adopt children, they should just take them with all the benefits that come with them. Its really confusing to me to have them in a shelter or base and wait for their parents to cross over to collect their benefits. Somehow out of no where all of them are now looking for lost relatives to reunite with here in the US. If thats the case then why all the freebies? Why not reunite them with their relatives and let them pay for everything like Americans do? I may sound weird saying all of this but its just that I recently know of a single mother here who did not qualify for the Habitat for Humanity homes because she makes too much money (25K year) to support herself and children. Instead these homes are going to the immigrants who are crossing over illegally. It makes me sad because this happened before a while back when all these families from Mexico received free houses over by Lackland AFB in the 80s and early 90s. Theres something thats not right here. Our single moms and retired homeless military in San Antonio need help too. Ok Im off my soap box now. Im trying to understand what the deal is but I dont work for the government so I will never know. Sorry to rant, maybe Ill delete later. Ugh.
