When the Lion Roars, RUN ! Peter tells us that Satan is like a roaring lion looking for those he might devour. Sin devours our lives, every part of them. It is not like a spot on our clothing that just touches one place, it is like a red shirt washed with the whites leaching its color into every weave of the fabric. Sin seeks to destroy from within, to turn our hearts callous and cold, broken and confused by every wind of change in the world around us. So what do we do? Sin, like Wisdom does everything it can to get our attention. We live in a world where sin is on display for everyone to see, sins that even five years ago would have made us blush and turn away now are displayed on billboards, magazine covers and television shows at every turn. We are inundated with images and temptations that would destroy us. But God! Throughout the Bible these two words mark the power of the Almighty to transform our lives and protect us from all that would harm us. They speak to the power of God to change our hearts and minds and provide a New Spirit, His Holy Spirit to live within us. How do we escape? We put our faith, our hope, our everything in His hands, and sometimes, we RUN! 1 Corinthians 10:12-14 says: “So, if you think you are standing firm, be careful that you don’t fall! No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it. Therefore, my dear friends, flee from idolatry.” In temptation, God provides the power to resist, but we often allow ourselves to be tempted and place ourselves in harms way. Those sins that seem to easily beset us, what should we do when it seems we cannot get away from them, Simple, RUN, God provides a way OUT, and the way to HIM. God Bless: Bro. Clay
