When the Lords plan is not your plan but you surrender and submit... Thats where we are. Last week Liberty had a sleep study and as the technician pulled the wires and hoses and various other gadgets off her in the morning, he said that everything went extremely well, there were no de-saturations to speak of and definitely no apnea. Yesterday evening Dr. Kasi reviewed the findings of the study and called us immediately asking us to come in first thing this morning. Libertys study showed that she has Central Nervous System Apnea (her brain forgets to tell her body to breathe correctly), Obstructive Apnea (something in her body is restricting/stopping her from breathing properly), Hypoventilation (She does not dispose of Carbon Dioxide properly/efficiently), she is likely aspirating either breast milk or saliva, her oxygen saturation levels drop frequently to levels as low as 70% and she may have silent reflux (which could be causing permanent damage to her respiratory system). We arent sure what combination of these probable/possible situations are occurring or why so immediate testing is needed. What we do know is that her initial sleep study did not show any of these situations other than occasional de-saturations. She is being admitted today for testing and will stay until approximately next Wednesday. We are praying Gods will in the entire situation and for guidance and direction for every specialist and doctor involved, that we get answers so we can start a treatment plan and for strength and perseverance for David and I.
