When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, This is the king of Israel. So they turned to attack him, but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the LORD helped him. God drew them away from him, for when the chariot commanders saw that he was not the king of Israel, they stopped pursuing him. 2 Chronicles 18:31–32 NIV Jehoshaphat, the king of Judah went into battle and soon got into trouble when a whole group of chariot commanders began to chase him thinking that he was someone else. When he cried out the Lord helped him and drew the enemy away from him. If Jehoshaphat had not cried out it is hard to say what would have happened, but it is quite possible that he would have died on the battlefield. When they turned to attack, that was all the encouragement that he needed to ask for help. It does not record what he said but it probably included: God help me! We are all in a battle, and our real strength and protection is not our own but comes from God Almighty. Do not wait until you are beaten down and weak to start asking God for help. When the attack begins, call for backup. God help me!
