When the church begins to embrace the concept of Race, that is...attribute value to it, treat it is a true construct in the world, we have already taken a step back from sanctification (our becoming set apart). It is a sort devolution back into the world...a conforming to the world. Racism is a world construct and it exists in the world, but it does not exist in Gods economy, and it does not exist in scripture. Race is an imagination, and scripture tells us to tear down such. As Thabiti Anyebwile states, Race does not exist. Simple, but poignant. When we attribute any given situation to race, we contribute to racism in the world. When we entertain race as a category, as a motivation, as something to be proud of, as something tangible, we produce more racism in the world. This should not be so with the church. There is but one race if we should use such a word, and that is the race of Adam which all mankind is in. This is certainly a gospel issue.
