In the last month, three professional experts joined the Mars One advisory board: Dr. James W. Rice is an expert in astrogeology and choosing a landing site, Esther Dyson is a seasoned entrepreneur in space, health and digital technology and K R Sridhara Murthi is an international space law and space policy expert. A complete list of Mars One advisers can be found here. Mars One announces a new collaborative sponsorship Mars One has recently received support from a group of Australian companies. Australian Science, a non-profit, privately funded initiative dedicated to the advancement of science, technology and education has recently joined Mars One as a sponsor of the project. New FAQ confronts concerns about radiation risk A recent study in the journal Science led to renewed discussions about the dangers of radiation exposure. The success of the Mars colony is the single most important goal of Mars One; for this to be possible, biologically compromising the settlers is not an option. Given the one-way nature of the mission and shielding measures that Mars One will take during space travel as well as on Mars, radiation exposure of the settlers will remain within the margin accepted by space agencies. We invite interest from the brightest minds with extensive experience in the field of human spaceflight. Our applicants come from around the world and the chosen few will take the journey to Mars to live there for the rest of their lives. To select the best crews, we are looking for experts who possess understanding of different cultures as well as many years of experience working with astronauts, extreme environments and isolated habitats.
