When the idea to charter buses to FFF JB first popped into my - TopicsExpress

When the idea to charter buses to FFF JB first popped into my head, it was an instant reaction to MDAs ban of To Singapore, with Love. Things moved from just being an intention to real action, and I have to thank those who have taken me seriously enough to invest their time and money in making this a reality. Due to the nature of my job, it was not possible for me to be making calls to bus companies during the day, so thank you to Jialiang for doing it to help kickstart the beginning of having the idea becoming a reality. Thank you as well, to the generous donor who sponsored 3 of the buses. Without him, we might end up having to collect a fee for the transportation - an amount which I know might deter many from attending. A great big thanks to the organisers who went out of their way to accomodate us as well, by shifting the screening to a larger room. The room was packed, and the initial estimate of 50 as was initially reported by the Straits Times proved that they need to work on their number sense, and seriously begin to consider reporting facts. I also feel really honoured to be on the same bus with many from the old Left and their friends. Special thanks to Geok Choo for helping to co-ordinate this group. Many of them suffered detention without trial during the 60s while doing their bit for a country they so love. Throughout the journey, I did not see any single bit of malice in them. All I saw was a group of pioneers whose contributions were villainised and forgotten, but whose hearts and minds are as attached to the affairs of this country as before. I feel terrible that I was unable to secure tickets for more of them as they should all be given the opportunity to witness their side of the story being made into a film before it is too late (reality: they are in their 70s and 80s). They should have been entitled the first priority but since the handling of ticket reservations was not in my hands, I was not able to do so. I do apologise sincerely, and I will do my very best to acquire permission from the film maker to hold a private screening just for them. Yes this will take some time and there will be obstacles, but I hope to overcome them somehow. ;)
