When the mighty Tottenham Hotspurs went to Folkstone in 1926. ORIGINAL handwritten letter from J W Gambrill the Secretary of Folkestone Football Club as sent to Tottenham Hotspur FC and enclosing £15 as a guarantee payment for a match between the two teams. The letter is undated but is almost certainly from 1926, because the first team had a game on that date I think this probably relates to the Tottenham Hotspur reserves. This would have been a friendly match as at the time Folkestone played in the Southern League, the A W Turner the letter is addressed to is Arthur Turner the legendary Spurs administrator and manager. The letter ends with a great signature from Gambrill and this letter is a marvellous piece of local history deserving of a place in any Folkestone related collection.
