When the photo of the velodrome was posted I sent it to my five - TopicsExpress

When the photo of the velodrome was posted I sent it to my five siblings, most of whom are not on facebook. We lived on Burlington Drive across from the water works. Bill Carson who was born in 38 responded, We could hear it clearly at our house on race nights! I sold ice cream for Foxes Ice cream (as I recall the name?). Our neighbor, Dick Fields, recruited Eddie Lockard and me and others, to go sell ice cream from a portable insulated bag by wandering around in the race crowd...fond memories...I learned how to sell lots ...just stop in one place, pretending to tie my shoe...pretty soon one sale, the another and soon i sold out at that spot...went back to the truck for more and tied my shoe in another place. Chuck Carson born in 45 said, I remember it being Wolfes ice cream. I loved the ice cream sandwiches! The track was gone before I could sell. Carolyn Carson born in 49, I remember an empty lot!! Mike Carson born in 52, The racing was long past in my day but the track was still there. I spent quite bit of time wandering the track, wondering what it was. There were abandoned vehicles and school busses on the site. I am wondering how tying ones shoe motivated customers to consider ice cream. By my day the only race track was the Muncie Speedway where Ed Newby raced.
