When the power went out last night it made me realize while I live in a very special place having a beautiful natural spring here I do live in a 40 year old money pit. Weve remodeled the down stairs replacing almost (still waiting on better weather to replace a 10 sliding glass door) all our windows with double pane and blowing in insulation in both sides of our attic last fall when it was cool out (that cost was under $250 and so easy I did it myself). I did miss the fan moving the air but when the power came back on the temperature downstairs didnt drop one degree in our house. Im sure had this happened at 4 pm it would have but man did it make a difference. My nephew in Plantation Florida ask me just yesterday about new windows. He has two preschool kids and I remember just how tight money was during that time of our lives. I told him to get with Home Depot, Lowes or any reputable window replacement company. Pay for a professional measurement of your windows and replace 2 this month, wait a few months and replace 2 more. Before you know it there all done and didnt break the bank to do it. With good windows you wont even hear a heavy rain outside.
