When we bring in senior shelter dogs to our Elder Paws family we - TopicsExpress

When we bring in senior shelter dogs to our Elder Paws family we do so with no idea of their health or medical needs. Most have suffered years of neglect and even some abuse. We make sure that these dogs receive the vet care necessary to restore their health, often at a very high cost. But sometimes the best of vetting cannot restore a dogs health and we find ourselves providing the best of hospice care. We have had a very rough month this past month. First we lost our dear sweet Tanner to inadequate vet care before coming to us; then we found out that our sweet Chili boy had passed away from renal failure. Today we had more sad news, although not altogether unexpected news. Frankie is back in renal failure...he has been up and down since we pulled him 2 months ago. Vet said this time he is not going to rally. Frankie has about 2 months maybe three. He is enjoying what is left of his life in a wonderful, loving hospice foster home. Thank you to Justine Caldera, Frankies first foster who did such a wonderful job caring for Frankie. And thank you to Mary Kay Toyne, Frankies current hospice foster, for letting Frankie know every day of the rest of his life that he IS valued and loved. All three of these dogs left this earth knowing the kindness and generosity of a loving family.
