When we get a chance not only to listen but to watch jazz piano masters like Piano Players We Love The Duke, it reminds us the underlying principle behind good jazz piano-playing which, in my opinion, should be the creative and stylistic interpretation of the melody with appropriate rhythmic comps and succinct harmonic support, and a thematic approach to improvisation. Rhythm motivates Melody, and Harmony is the consequence of Melody!
