When we look back it is then we can see how the sequences and perfect timing have brought us to where we are. I awoke this morning with a call from my first husband; my cat of many years had passed away. When I lost my farm a few years back, she went to live with him, my plan was always to bring her home but our son always insisted she stay and keep Daddy company. By nature my son is a giver, always wanting to take care of those he loves. I respected his wishes over the last couple of years and she lived out her days ‘keeping Daddy company’ as my son requested. She has been with me since I was a teenager, she sat with me through 38 long weeks of being sick in pregnancy, she soaked up many of my tears and she was a companion to many. She was not a cuddly cat, I had never heard her purr and unless I was in a place of really needing support she preferred to be left alone. I have always communicated with animals, quietly in the comfort of my home but I was not always an ‘energy healer’. Upon returning home from my first energy class I did as the instructor asked, I attempted to do self energy work. About two minutes in my cat jumped on the bed and sprawled out down my body, I laid my hands on her and she fell asleep purring for the first time in her life. I was beyond amazed that my rather cranky cat was not only cuddling but was purring happily. I continued to lay my hands on her nightly and watched her change, flourish and grow! I watched a cranky cat become cuddly and happy. One that never really wanted a lot of attention grew into loving the affection of those in our home and she began to fall asleep with me every night. Not guarding my bed as a protector but now a cuddly companion. It was only through this experience that I began to believe in something higher than myself, to believe in the power and magnificent gift of energy healing. I will be forever grateful for this lesson she taught me. For bringing this light into my life and allowing me to witness firsthand how remarkable energy healing is. It was from this experience that Paws and Paddocks was born, my passion, my purpose, my calling. To help animals heal and balance emotionally, just as she had done. As I sat at the home farm this morning, watching my first husband put her body to rest, my mind ran with thoughts. It was just the two of us there, two people to lay a life to rest. We often spend our days trying to impress others, trying to make money but then turn and spend that money, possibly on a large house, nice vehicle or enough shiny objects to impress and earn the respect of others. When making choices for our lives we wonder what others will think of us, instead of following our hearts true desires. We push those that truly matter aside because we are busy focused on creating a life filled with materialistic gain or people that in turn don’t love/support and care for us as we do for them. We delay our happiness until tomorrow . We allow the pain from the past to rob our happiness today. We stay in situations that aren’t what we desire because we can’t imagine life without that thing or that person... and in the end we walk away with none of those possessions in hand. Those we were trying to impress may or may not even bother to attend our burial and if they do, they will grieve and show their respect and in the days to come move on to live their lives without us. My wish for all of us is that we gain the clarity within to truly know what we desire from this lifetime. That we have the belief in ourselves that we have the ability to manifest that which our heart desires, that we won’t allow road blocks/people or things to prevent us from living the life we dream of, that we live this lifetime allowing our spirit to be free to soar to where it wants to go. To live in the moment and enjoy all that life has to offer. As I got back in the truck this afternoon and started the truck with perfect timing (thank you universe) on came the lyrics: So long my friend, until we meet again, I’ll remember you.... Thank-you for the many lessons you taught me, for being a part of my journey and bringing me to where I need to be, for showing me my purpose in this world but mostly for being you. May I remind myself daily to be fully alive and not take life for granted. It is with great peace that I know you have served your purpose in this lifetime and now move on..
