When we originally had the idea for The Battle To Save The World, - TopicsExpress

When we originally had the idea for The Battle To Save The World, I emailed JOHN DUNSWORTH AKA MR. LAHEY to ask for his help. I had a team of 21 musicians, and I was hoping he could help me turn them into actors. To my surprise, he got back to me immediately, and we planned to meet the next night to discuss the project. My main concern at the time was this: should we pitch the idea and try to get enough money to film a pilot, or should we do it all ourselves? His advice was simple: If theres anything worth doing, its worth doing shittily. I was raised on the idea that if theres anything worth doing, its worth doing well, so this was new to me, but he explained. If someone gave us money to make the show, it wouldnt be long before they were taking the idea and changing how things get done. On the other hand, if we worked together, this project would bring our team closer, help us each to develop artistically and professionally, and, in the end, we would own the show. Two years later, this is exactly what weve done, and I have him to thank for it. His sage wisdom and generosity are inspirational, and this video, which I saw today for the first time, speaks a truth that will resonate with everyone involved in any creative field.
