When we resigned from Scouting, we told our Scouts and Explorers that we would try and keep the kayinging that we offered open for them. We made an offer to buy all the kayak equipment from the Group, but the DC stepped in and blocked the sale. He even refused to hire or loan the equipment. Since they have no kayak coaches in the Group, the only reason they blocked the sale was to prevent us offering kayak courses to young people. Yesterday, we were back in business with equipment sourced from elsewhere. For us it is a win win scenario, we still have the cash we offered, plus we have a set of boats, and a fantastic bunch of kids who want to do the activities that we are able to offer.
