When we take a donated horse, we do so on a 90 day trial. Not - TopicsExpress

When we take a donated horse, we do so on a 90 day trial. Not every horse is a therapy horse or can tolerate mobs of kids at the barn, yelling, constant movement on their backs, difficulties mounting that they must stand for, approaching wheelchairs and crutches, mounting them from above on a ramp and the list goes on. Usually, I know by the second month whether a horse will work out, but some take longer. Then there are horses like our newest addition, True Valentino. True has been here one month and most of it spent on stall rest for a cut received messing around in the pasture on his second day. He is well healed now and out with the herd and the testing will go on. Today we welcomed a small group of kids from Grace Trinity school who came to meet the horses, and feed a treat. Since True is our largest and flashiest horse, he took center stage. I also wanted to see how he reacted to 16 kids around him, which is a usual event at our barn. I believe a picture says 1000 words! He was a sweetheart, and almost fell asleep with the constant petting. There was not any sign of nervousness. He has passed with flying colors. Thank you to all the volunteers who came to help today. You were great.
