When we think of humanity, populating the earth in the billions now, we feel invincible; we cannot conceive of us ever becoming extinct. Yet we have to remember, ours is the very last relic of a taxon that once populated the earth with several different variations. Regardless, whether WE become extinct or not, it is believed by scientists that many other mammals will be gone in the next couple hundred years. Although we may be able to enjoy them through holograms and other technology, I feel so grateful that we have them in the flesh and heart with us now! Enjoy:
