When we were in Savannah this summer, sitting on a bench watching kids run through a fountain on a hot, muggy day, a reporter came up to interview us about Savannah as a tourist destination (I guess we looked like tourists). Anyway, here is the article that appeared in their Sunday paper as a result of the interview. Savannah, by the way, is definitely worth visiting. And if you want to stay at the beach rather than in Savannah, there is Tybee Island (20 minutes away), or Hilton Head, SC (1 hour away) if you prefer Hawaii style condos on the beach and golf.
