When we were in high school growing up, there were those girls who were hotter than the sun. Every guy wanted to date them and every girl wanted to be like them. Being in their presence was a privilege, it made one feel important for that moment. They were the it girls. They got everything they wanted, because everyone was eating right off their palms. When you meet them years after matriculating, you realise that an investment in hotness is not the wisest of investments. They are still hot, sure, but now their hotness whispers, it no longer screams. You see such girls enduring life, a haunted look of failure concealed behind the regretful eyes. Its very sad. The thing about relying on hotness to get anywhere is that it is not sustainable. Hotness might open doors, but it takes more than being hot to stay inside once those doors are opened. It is also not universal. What 16 year olds see as hot in high school might not be what everyone else regards as hot. It is all in the eyes of the beeholder. I guess what Im saying is that young girls must be taught to invest on more fruitful things: knowledge, education, ambition, independence and so on and so forth. Even if youre hot, you need to have more than hotness to get far in life, because no revolution was ever won because those who fought for it were hot. Hot you may be, but you must still work hard, because no-one eats hotness.
