When we were kids we mowed lawns to make money. Whatever we made - TopicsExpress

When we were kids we mowed lawns to make money. Whatever we made was spent at Holmes Variety Store to buy baseball cards. Most lawns we mowed for $3 or $4. My uncle bought me a brand new 22 cut lawnmower from Whites Auto in Ardmore. It cost $39. Me and my cousin hired out to mow a sweet little old ladys lawn for $2. We mowed, we hoed her flowerbed, swept the sidewalk and got it looking good. She gave each of us a dollar and we put it in our blue jeans pocket. As we were leaving, she said Boys Ive got one more job if yall are interested . I will pay you and pay you well if you will do it. She said Ive got a webworm in my pecan tree if yall will climb up there and cut it out of there. We were like Heck yeah . Well, we look up in that tree and it is in the very tip top of a HUGE pecan tree. Now me being a chicken about heights, I told Mikey You are going to have to do it because I cant !! So he starts climbing waaaaay up in that tree. He was so high up in there that he looked like one of them little Koala Bears in Australia. He cut that webworm out and shimmied down that tree. That little old sweet woman reached in her coin purse and gave us........ a QUARTER !!!! She said Thank you boys. Yall split that and dont spend it all in one place !!!!!!!!!!
