When we were trying to make Gone Too Far, nobody wanted to touch it & if they did, they wanted to change it because it was too risky. One day, we did a reading for the film to hopefully generate interest. The audience was full of industry people, one of those people was Chris Collins. The notes we got back were either confusing, uninterested or plain stupid. His were simply This film is funny, I dont understand why it isnt being made. From that moment on, he championed the film. He believed in it and us so much that he commissioned a sequel before audiences had even seen it. The film got made & got a theatrical release. My life hasnt been the same since. Today I found out that Chris Collins passed away. I didnt know him very well & yet Im crushed. Chris literally changed my life. There will always be people that add to your life, however those that change it are very rare. The last time I saw him was at a party. He was visibly ill but he was smiling. With all that he was going through, he never lost his ability to smile. I guess we can all learn from that. My prayers go out to his family and friends. May he rest in perfect peace.
