In Galatians 5:16 Paul says, “So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature.” Allowing the Holy Spirit to be in control instead of you being in control is the victory you’ve been looking for. If the Holy Spirit controls who you are and what you do, it does not matter what the circumstances are. If the Holy Spirit is on control of you it will not matter if you feel good or bad. The Holy Spirit can produce the character of Christ in you regardless of what is going on around you! If you are a Christ follower the Holy Spirit is within you. To be controlled by the Spirit simply means choosing to yield your will to the Spirit’s will. The Spirit controlled life is a moment-by-moment decision to let Christ control you rather than you controlling you. In Galatians 5:25 Paul writes, “Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit.” The Spirit controlled life is a step-by-step walk in which you surrender your control to Christ’s.
