When you buy organic meat or dairy remember that ‘organic’ - TopicsExpress

When you buy organic meat or dairy remember that ‘organic’ does not mean 100% grass-fed. The national standard for organic livestock dictates that the animals must be fed their natural diet (ie grass/pasture) but there is a 5% leeway in the standard, whereby animals may be fed alternatives (such as grains) if there is a supply shortage. Personally I dont think grain would be considered part of the animals natural diet (palm kernel fed dairy cows) so I look for organic, ethical and 100% grass-fed sources. Is this something you ever consider when buying your meat, chicken, farmed fish and eggs? Can you share what the deciding factor is for you when it comes to choosing it? I’d love to hear from you.
