When you cast your Unit 2 Ballot, please remember: Catherine Hollowell, 1) BLATANTLY VIOLATED THE ELECTION CODE by using her Unit report to campaign. This violates both our Election Code and our Tribal Criminal Code. The consequence prescribed in law, is an election code violation and fine; a criminal prosecution and conviction; and removal from office. In her Unit report, she spoke of the campaign, her platform, not having enough room in the free candidate space which is how she justified using her unit report to campaign, and a citation to her election website (four times in one article) which she took down when someone complaint of her “Abuse of Office.” Why waste your vote when she is likely to be convicted and removed from office anyway? 2) SECRET DEAL MAKING: In a different era, the Chairperson and a select group of Board Members routinely met in secret to lay out how they would vote. Not all Board Members were allowed to participate. This is illegal. Last year, Catherine proposed legislation and circulated an email to those who are part of her click to keep this secret from the men on the Board and select women. In her email, she disparages certain Board members as being too stupid to understand what they would be voting on. Regardless of her self-important attitude, all Board members deserve to know all information at the same time. Bob LaPoint established the “No More Secrets” platform. Catherine clearly did not get the memo on this ethic. 3) CLEAR CUT HESSEL FOREST – Shortly after I was elected, Catherine met with me to propose that we do what she called a ‘selective cut’ to the trees behind the Hessel Reservation. The motivation? For profit. I took the proposal written by the very company who would exploit our woods and circulated it to a Tribal Member who has his PhD in Forestry Management. He said that this was not a so-called ‘select cut’ but a clear cut. Hessel and Cedarville Members need to know that she intended to cut down your forest.
