When you decide to do something (in fact not just do something but - TopicsExpress

When you decide to do something (in fact not just do something but do it to the absolute best of your ability) you will be tested to see how committed, dedicated and passionate you really are about achieving your goal. So I have a few kayak sessions to make up from last week and Ive put a bit of pressure on myself to get out on the water. However so far there have been circumstances that have made it very difficult for myself (which yesterday had me for a few moments in angry tears, and this morning had me cursing yet again.) But I learnt had some great learnings from it... Its now 1030am and getting into the hottest part of the day. I made a decision to get a 2hour session in today so Im cycling 30km (there and back) to get my water time. Theres (a huge) part of me that really doesnt want to do this now however if I dont do it now, then yet another day will go by that i dont take back the control. And yes Im not only doing the Coast to Coast next year, but Im going to present at the start line as the best possible version of myself. So thats going to take a lot of hard work! So yes I could decide to drive to the River, but a 60km cycle is just the sort of fun this body needs :) (and anyway the way my mind works I just dont even consider driving 60km when I have a bike - and need to get fast on my bike- so its not even an option.) If I kayak, then I ride my bike to and from the River. Its the way it is. Thats my standard. No excuses. Its just the way it works. When you commit to a standard you hold for yourself, it really becomes much easier. When you raise your standards (what you expect of yourself) you raise the quality of your life. (yes Im yet to work on my early morning exercise standards ;) but Im working on small achievable change to start :) See you on the Brisbane River in an hour!! :)
