When you end the year in the circumstances I have, its easy to forget what you have achieved in a year and despite missing out on some pretty big opportunities and ending up in hospital, I still look back and smile. It was a big year for shows...Some highlights include touring with Hozier on his UK tour, Supporting SAM SMITH at Shepherds Bush Empire, playing at Eurosonic Noorderslag in the Netherlands, Electric Picnic near Dublin & finally Belsonic at home in Belfast. SO many good times were had recording my debut EP in Wales with James and Mole, I was really happy to see some decent Radio 1, 2 and XFM plays of the back of it! As I said in my very first post when I explained I had cancer - momentum is important in this industry and when you are going at 100 miles per hour to then finding yourself at a complete stop, you suddenly put your whole life into perspective. Ive recently started to think that maybe I wasnt ready to continue going at 100 miles per hour and having some time to myself back at home was possibly the best thing for me, not only as an artist but as a human being. One of the most important things for me through this whole experience is that I have felt Ive reconnected with home again and brought my family closer together. Seeing family I hadnt seen in years, in a place where I hadnt properly spent time in years is truly magic. I have big plans for 2015... a determination I have never felt before. All I wish for is some good news with the scan results in January and then I can fully give all my mind and energy to writing music and continuing going through the gears again. Finally thank you to all my team and everyone at Capitol for everything and thank YOU. Everyones continued support has been so kind and so important to me. HAVE A WONDERFUL NEW YEAR! Daniel x
