When you have accomplished a lot through hard work, that is fantastic and commendable. When you let your accomplishments blind you to the value of others, you are ill. If youre condescending to someone because their resume is perhaps not as impressive as yours, you are wrong. Everyone you meet potentially is a genius. Einstein was a janitor. Where would we be if the journal in which he first published hadnt accepted his work because he wasnt in their academic clubhouse already? Never dismiss someones importance and human dignity, whether the person youre dealing with is a relatively unknown journalist from a small town or your server or your dog sitter. Not everyone deserves to be coddled all the time - but make sure youre not letting an inflated ego turn you into a boor.
