When you hear the term “Uncanny Valley” you probably think of Steve Jobs, Anne Coulter or, yes, even Barach Obama, but the idea goes back over forty years. AND, it’s Japanese! The idea was first published in 1970 by Japanese roboticist Masahiro Mori (born 1927), and reveals its origin in the many replications of his graph which reference bunraku (traditional Japanese puppet theater) puppets.
