When you know better you do better. And too frequently, folks just don’t know any better and the rest simply follow…that’s human nature. The question becomes: how can we properly inform, how can educate better, how can he shift the culture away from the destruction that has become commonplace? 1st – know what you’re up against. The majority of people aren’t well educated. And while formal education is not the sole factor for “good character” it is significant. 2nd – have empathy, not sympathy. Knowing that most people have been handed generational, sub-par education and consequently, checked out and in turn “learned” whatever they could from whomever they could is key. Feeling bad for them is counter-productive. 3rd – each one teach. DON’T STOP raising hell and encourage others to as well. See LHHH or The Housewives or Kardashinas as counter productive, speak about it and encourage others to as well. One voice is loud, 1,000,000 is deafening. 4th – expand your sphere of influence; this is critical. Screaming in an echo chamber while it may sound pleasing, frequently doesn’t reach those whom the message is intended. Talk to the youth who are perpetuating counter-culture behavior; speak (not yell and argue with) to that republican friend who sees things differently; and encourage others get onboard. #nocooning would be a great way to identify shows, musicians, entertainers that continue to push our culture down. 5th - EDUCATION. Education is the glue that holds common sense together. We must DEMAND BETTER EDUCATION SYSTEMS NATIONALLY! This should be our next series of marches, protest and outrage. WE must demand equality in the education funding formula. If Sophie and Blake’s schools are receiving $15,000/per pupil and Tyrone and Shameka’s are receiving $7,000, Tyrone and Sha aren’t being dealt the same hands. This is one way to TRULY level the “opportunity field”. Lastly, there is NO SILVER BULLET. There’s a ton of work that needs to be done. Don’t knock what others may be doing to push the culture forward. Do more! We didn’t get here by ourselves, but we damn for sure will have to get out of here together. ONE LOVE I AM MY COMMUNITY
