When you lose a child, there are no instructions on grieving... For a marriage or your other children, grandparents, aunts etc... We all tend to go in different directions, I learned through therapy that its OK, there is no right or wrong way to grieve, that everyone is different. I am a talker, Carly was a talker... I want to keep her alive and that is the way I deal with her passing but for others maybe its too painful to talk about.. I found that to be hurtful at first but I have come to realize that it will all be acceptable if I can accept how others deal with death...tough but Im working on it! Carly was a big presence in our home! After discussing this with my girls and my niece, I took a much needed ride with my dog out to the country to get farm fresh eggs. When I returned, seemed the girls went for a walk and found a monarch butterfly intact, on the side of the road.. Carly was a huge lover of the butterfly , her headboard is a carving if a butterfly. I feel as though it was a sign from her to let the girls KNOW she is here with them... We pinned the beautiful butterfly and framed her... I felt comforted by this beautiful experience.. We grieved together without actually talking just being together and acknowledging what we all KNEW without words... I made a great stuffed cabbage that night.. A true comfort meal! Not my mothers normally delicious stuffed cabbage but a different spin on the recipe, thanks to Renny Darling..I found her cookbook at a little consignment shop.. A real gem! Xo
