When you lose someone you love, it is as if you were shot through - TopicsExpress

When you lose someone you love, it is as if you were shot through the stomach with a cannon ball. You feel as if you have no center . . . as if there is a huge, looming hole. It aches . . . it aches in a very strange way. It is like being hungry for food except that you are hungry for the person you cant see or hold or talk to anymore. You are ravenous for their smell, their voice, their touch. And when you walk, it is as if you are not really palpable . . . your legs feel like jelly. There is nothing so terrible . . . so devastating as losing these people that you have known and loved. And you cant fill that hole overnight. Not even in a week. Maybe not even in a year or more. But you patch it up. You take memories and start patching. You take every hug and kiss and sympathetic word and continue patching. And over time, the hole is covered. It is still there. It is always there. But it is bearable. There is nothing that heals more than time.
