When you play the bass, you dont really get the girls. While the girls are chasing the singers and guitar players, I seem to attract conversation from US military personnel, who often suffer from PTSD. Most of them are socially awkward and alone in the bar. They talk. They get angry when they talk. Sometimes they get a little scary. They always say If you dont want to hear all this, you can tell me to go away. The latest was Shawn in Knoxville on Friday night. Hes 24 years old, and some of his closest friends are missing their legs now. It could have been worse, he assured me. My best friend lost his balls. I mean, he didnt lose his balls. He lost his testicles, I mean. He says hes looking into getting work clearing mine fields in Afghanistan, which will earn him to enough money to move to Poland, where he dreams of opening an American-style bar with cornhole tournaments. Hes frustrated that most Americans have never heard of Kajaki.
