When you post something that you find interesting or helpful, you - TopicsExpress

When you post something that you find interesting or helpful, you may attract attention from your FB friends who may or may not read, may or may not be interested, may or may not respond. Unfortunately (and fortunately) sometimes, from the responses, you might get embarrassed, get corrected, get disagreeable opinions, get caught out, get cornered, get exposed. Dont worry. That is okay. People made an effort to spend time responding to your posts . Sharing links, posting information on it. Lengthy debates, discussions, disagreements, diverse opinions will occur from time to time. There are many hovering readers who may or may not find such exercises useful or interesting depending on how many friends each responder has. You win some, you lose some, but in a larger perspective, such exchanges are healthy - It promotes freedom of expression. It promotes critical thought. It informs. Everybody wins. Apart from trolls, people who care enough will spend time and effort will respond to you. They spend unrecoverable time and effort to find links, to research on the subject so that they can share those information with you. They pause whatever they might be doing instead, to communicate with you, to read what you say, what you shared, contemplate on what your think. You might get bored. You might get tired. You might be busy. And you can always suspend a thread. You can always stop a thread by concluding that you no longer wish to continue. You can always stop a thread by an interesting last say. You can always stop a thread by not continuing to respond (sometimes). You can always turn off the notification. You can also delete the thread even after all the effort and time has been put in. But to do so ... it is not okay. It is bad form. It is rude. It is arrogant. It is egoistical. It is not mature. It is irresponsible. It is censorship. Made worse if you claimed you promote freedom of speech and expression. Made worse if you claimed you have empathy for people. Made worse if you claimed you want people to be informed. Of course, you may have deleted a thread in a moment of anxiety, a moment of thoughtlessness, a moment of egoistical immaturity. But you can always apologize. You can always concede a point, a bad idea. Like I said, unfortunately, sometimes, you might get embarrassed, get corrected, get disagreeable opinions, get caught out, get cornered, get exposed. Dont worry. That is okay. From time to time in the journey of the breathing, you need to go buy brinjal for yourself. Such is life.
